House music is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in the early 1980s in Chicago, Illinois. The genre is characterized by its repetitive 4/4 beat, synthesized melodies, and use of drum machines, samplers, and other electronic instruments.

The name “house” music is said to come from the nightclub “The Warehouse” in Chicago, where DJ Frankie Knuckles and other DJs played a mix of disco, funk, and soul music that eventually evolved into the house sound.
House music quickly gained popularity in Chicago and other cities in the US, as well as in Europe and other parts of the world. Over time, various sub-genres of house music emerged, including deep house, acid house, and tech house, among others.

Today, house music continues to be a popular genre of electronic dance music, with artists and DJs from all over the world creating and performing house music for audiences around the globe.
